F is for feminist. I had no real association with the word until I saw Judy Chicago give a talk at the San Francisco Contemporary Jewish Museum about her new book Frida Kahlo: Face to Face. Ms. Chicago, an artist of The Dinner Party fame, is a throw back to the hard core main line feminist archetype that troubles many a young woman. I wasn't uncomfortable with her "feminist" soap box but rather undone when she mentioned at the beginning of her talk how she was "more prodigious than Frida Kahlo, who only made 180 paintings." That's a direct quote. For shame, Ms. Chicago. For shame.
