After working out with my trainer and friend Eric today, Eric showed me some art on his cell phone. This is not as strange as it might seem. Eric is an accomplished painter and he often sketches while waiting for me to meet him. He has also been supportive of my drawing efforts and we often discuss art. I admired the mural paintings he showed me on his cell phone and we chatted about the shading and Renaissance-like quality. Then Eric casually let slip that the painter was his father, Dewitt Jordan.
I was stunned. Dewitt Jordan is the man called the "Genius of the Delta." He is a very well-known Black artist from the south.
If you get a chance, check out his work. It's very cool. Much like his son.
