Alicia Morga is the founder and CEO of No. 8 Media, Inc., an innovation and digital marketing consultancy that advises numerous companies in e-commerce, education, finance, and media, including L'Oréal, Tejava, Dang Foods, P&G, Chronicle Books, deYoung Museum, SFFILM Festival, EdSurge, Juntos, and Voxy.
A digital marketing expert, Alicia is an adjunct professor of Digital Marketing for University of San Francisco. She also teaches in-person 1-week, 10-week, and enterprise digital marketing courses for General Assembly and recently wrote, storyboarded, and produced six courses (curriculum and projects) of Udacity’s online Digital Marketing Nanodegree that launched in March 2017. Her teaching covers business strategy and marketing, brand strategy, content strategy, social media management and influencer marketing, SEM (AdWords), Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, display advertising, email marketing, marketing analytics (Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager), excel, statistics, data visualization, segmentation, targeting and tracking, UX fundamentals and trends, testing and experimentation (A/B, multi-variate, tools like Optimizely and Unbounce), activation and retention, budgeting and planning, and presenting and storytelling.
Before turning full-time to digital marketing again, Alicia was the General Manager of payment strategy and the bill pay product at Digital Insight, NCR’s retail financial subsidiary. The bill pay product had 4MM users, 12MM transactions/mo, and over $100MM in annual revenue. She was responsible for the P&L, product strategy, planning and implementing product design (was hands on as scrum product owner), QA, engineering, sales, marketing, communications, business development, customer service, and training. She also designed a next generation bill pay product and presented at DI's Innovation conference for over 2,000 financial institution clients.
(Are you still reading this? :) ) Prior to NCR, she was the founder and CEO of Consorte Media, a digital marketing company focused on the Hispanic market and backed by The Mayfield Fund and Sutter Hill Ventures. Consorte Media worked with advertisers such as Best Buy and Ford to help them reach Hispanics online via integrated, innovative advertising campaigns spanning display, search, direct marketing, mobile, social media, video, and email. Consorte Media was ranked #4 in the Fast Company Readers Choice Awards, was named an AlwaysOn Global 250 winner, and was a finalist for “Best New Company” in the American Business Awards. Alicia raised over $10 million for Consorte and the company was acquired by Audience Science.
Prior to founding Consorte Media, Alicia was an investment professional focused on venture opportunities in the technology sector for The Carlyle Group’s U.S. Venture Fund. She also worked at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, where she focused on early-stage software investments. While at Hummer Winblad, Alicia served as VP of Operations for Napster and CEO of venture fund Zero Gravity Internet Group. During her time in venture capital, Alicia served on the boards of technology companies such as Ingenio (acquired by AT&T), Ventaso, Secure Elements (acquired by Fortinet), Archetype-Solutions (acquired by Intel), Applied Semantics (acquired by Google), Menerva Technologies (acquired by I-many, Inc.), and Discovercast.
Alicia was also a corporate attorney for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and started her career as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Alicia holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School, a B.A. from Stanford University, and is a California Bar member.
Alicia was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Technology by Fast Company and was named 10 Most Influential Latinos of Silicon Valley by the Mexican American Community Services Agency. She was also profiled in an issue of Inc. Magazine. She was featured as one of the country’s top 20 under 40 in an issue of Poder Magazine, and profiled as a technology pioneer in the Hispanic Business Magazine.
